Few things bring about the feeling of carefree childhood summers more than the cool, refreshing taste of ice cream. Miami Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC) is a destination that aims to help people recapture that childhood wonder through fun exhibits, brightly colored interactive playscapes, and — of course — unlimited ice cream. Thanks to its unique experience, MOIC Miami has quickly established itself as a destination for tourists and locals alike.
Now, a local food truck vendor is celebrating its inclusion in one of MOIC’s featured exhibits. Repicci’s Italian Ice & Gelato, a family-owned franchise that offers authentic Italian treats, has earned a coveted spot on MOIC Miami’s menu, securing its place among other beloved ice cream treats such as Azucar and Cosmic Bliss.
An Ice Cream-Centric Experience
MOIC is billed as the world’s only museum where you can play like a kid and eat unlimited ice cream. The vibrant pink tones are impossible to miss at the global locations from Austin to Chicago, New York, and Singapore.
MOIC opened a pop-up in 2017 before it decided to return with a permanent location this year in the heart of downtown Miami. Featuring more than 14,000 square feet of ice cream-centered fun, it is an immersive experience that hopes to bring out the kid in all who visit.
MOIC’s Miami location offers ten separate exhibits that are distinctly Miami-themed, such as the Cream Liner, a luxury airline experience, and the Hall of Freezers. Each space offers a new tasting experience for guests. Whether you’re a dessert enthusiast, a parent with young kids, or a kid-at-heart looking to treat yourself, MOIC Miami has plenty to offer for visitors of all ages.
One of MOIC’s most popular exhibits is the Sprinkle Pool, which is precisely what it sounds like — a pool with a slide full of oversized plastic sprinkles that guests can frolic in — and has already made its mark online as a favorite for influencer selfies. MOIC also offers Mary-E’s Diner, a futuristic-themed restaurant where museum guests can indulge in all manner of ice cream and frozen desserts.
From the Millennial Pink decor, uniforms, and palm trees to the themed desserts found inside, everything about MOIC’s Miami location is decidedly Floridian. This makes MOIC a great place to make delicious, unforgettable memories with your loved ones in the Sunshine State!
The Beach Experience
Upon its launch in Miami, MOIC has featured Miami-themed “stations,” offering specially designed ice cream desserts that evoke the feeling of Southern Florida like nothing else. Citrus fruits and a beachy feel are on the menu to give visitors the complete Miami-tinged experience.
Repicci’s specialty Creamsicle flavor is heavily featured in “The Beach” experience, a treat that includes flavors representing the sun, the wind, the sand, and the water all in one snack. The Creamsicle flavor is featured as “The Sun.”
“It’s been a hit!” says Brandon Naughton from Repicci’s. There are also plans to utilize Repicci’s Italian ice in future unique experiences across other Museum of Ice Cream locations.
Repicci’s roots are as authentically Italian as the treats they offer, tracing back to 1911 when Dominic Repicci immigrated from Italy to America and brought his Old World Italian ice recipe with him. Beginning by sharing the recipe with his neighbors and friends in South Philadelphia, it wasn’t long before Repicci recognized the demand.
Today, Dominic’s grandson, Frank Repici, runs the company and has expanded Repicci’s Italian Ice & Gelato into a nationwide franchise. Repicci’s famous food trucks can be found at state fairs, concerts, events, and now a museum!
A Return to Childlike Wonder
Frank Repici would be the first to tell you that his family’s legacy of delicious frozen desserts is made with love and is all about having fun and community. It’s easy to see why Repicci’s fits in so well with the goal of MOIC’s Miami location. “We try to make good times even better,” he says.
The fun and childlike wonder that Repicci’s prides itself upon when bringing its food trucks to various events is the same vibe that MOIC brings to Miami. Both Repicci’s and MOIC hope to play a part in creating lifetime memories for families. Whether you’re hoping to take a dip in the sprinkle pool or be one of the first to take a dream flight on the retro ‘Cream Liner,’ make sure you take time to experience ‘The Beach’ as well and indulge in some Repicci’s Italian ice and gelato.
MOIC’s Miami location officially opened on September 6, 2024, and is already thrilling visitors with its interactive installations and themed desserts, serving thousands of visitors a day. The Repicci’s Italian Ice and Gelato team is excited to play a role in such a unique and fun experience. As Frank Repici says, “It is the perfect place to create memories with family and friends!”
