The year 2020 and its trials have provided a harrowing experience for countless people worldwide. The ongoing pandemic and broadcasted sociopolitical issues have affected everyone—even and especially the children.
Realizing how difficult the year has been for the young ones, world-class trainer Mikerlange Barthelemy and celebrated NFL player Tre’Quan Smith decided to band together and send out a message of hope to the children in Pleasant City, West Palm Beach, Florida.
Before becoming the industry giants they are today, both Mikerlange and New Orleans Saints’ Tre’Quan had to work their way up. Although the sports figures came from different places, the trainer from Haiti and the athlete from Delray share nearly the same background.
Growing up as less fortunate and having fantastic success stories, Mikerlange Barthelemy and Tre’Quan each vowed to give back as much and as often as they can.
Being in the same industry, the two first met as trainer and client athlete. Their professional relationship soon grew, and both were already close friends when they entertained the idea of lighting up more than a Christmas tree during the holidays.
“As you all know, this year has been really tough on all of us,” the champions’ trainer shares. “I remember this past summer, Tre and I would say we need to reach out to these kids somehow this year and send a message that they matter and show them some love.”
Driven by a clear objective to be a smiling reminder to children that they are heard and loved, Mikerlange and Tre got to work. Pouring the focus that has won championships into their project, the two brilliant minds planned and organized a charity event.
The event, the first of many, was especially designed to remind the youth that they matter and are the future, especially in such a chaotic time. After seeing themselves in the children, Mikerlange Barthelemy and Tre’Quan Smith were eager to send out a message that anyone can be like them as well. Anyone can make a change and make their dreams come true with passion.
Too excited to wait for the charity event itself, Mikerlange and Tre’Quan went ahead and launched their first annual holiday giveaway. “I am a firm believer in giving, and so is Tre. So we thought by putting this giveaway charity together, we would be able to spread some love and also end this stressful year for those kids by putting a big smile on every single one of them—just in time for Santa.”
Having earned a blinding 562 smiles last December 18, 2020, the sports giants are ecstatic about their success and are enthusiastic at the thought of doing the same thing in the coming years.
Sharing this success with equally generous friends, Mikerlange and Te’Quan expressed their deep gratitude to Xavier Edwards, the trainer’s client from the Tampa Bay Rays, Wisler, Phil, Robert Ross, Denil, and the Shadow Group. The philanthropist sports figures also owe thanks to Mikerlange’s clients at Limitless Performance in Wellington and all their friends who reached out to help.
