Global Mixed Gender Basketball League Envisions the Future of Basketball Games

Global Mixed Gender Basketball, otherwise known as GMGB, is making a bold move as they stir the pot and rattle the cages by allowing both men and women to co-exist on the court for the whole world to witness.

“It is not only a revolutionary idea, but it is also very brave and awe-inspiring.”

Global Mixed Gender Basketball League (GMGB) envisions a new way of playing basketball with the unique formula they have developed. While the cause is getting more support, they are still fighting for acceptance that will revolutionize the future of the sport. GMGB was established in 2015 by James Scott, the owner and CEO of the world’s first-ever co-ed professional basketball league.

“There are seven teams in total, and an internationally known celebrity entertainer owns each team. The players are former NBA, WNBA, and the Harlem Globetrotters. They all share a common belief in what GMGB stands for and what it can inspire in the future,” explains the founder. “Three women and two men on the court in the first quarter, followed by two women and three men in the second quarter, on each team. Each quarter it rotates.”

This set-up, along with a few other minor changes in play, gives assurance that the basketball game will take on an exciting, never-before-seen format. “This, we believe, is the future of basketball,” James shared in an interview. GMGB is very new to many people, but it has the power to inspire change where the world needs it most. This is why the organization is pushing for more efforts for people to be more aware of them and their advocacy.

James dreams about the day that GMGB will bridge the gap that has made the gender gap a form of measurement in professional sports. Guided by the slogan, “Equal Pay for Equal Play,” GMGB is being viewed as a catalyst for significant change with how it transformed how the sport is being played. James hopes that someday he will see people from different walks of life participating in the dawning of a new kind of basketball that will entertain viewers on another level.

“There are no other professional basketball teams or leagues that have men and women playing together on the court at the same time. The vision of equality is evidenced not only in the players but also in the coaches and referees. Everything is men and women. That coupled with the internationally known celebrity team owners and the outstanding halftime entertainment they bring sets us apart from all the rest,” James added.

James believes that a person’s gender should not dictate raw talent and skill. “Over the past years, the present generation has seen relevant role reversals within the home, business, and even politics. Seeing the same thing happening in sports can be fascinating, not just for athletes but also for people in general,” says the GMGB founder.

The Global Mixed Gender Basketball League, James, and all supporters and team members who support the cause hope to see a day that their efforts bear fruit. To join in this groundbreaking endeavor and for more information go to www.globalmixgenderbasketball.com.
