Building a healthcare organization from a single clinic to a national network is no small feat. Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians has accomplished exactly that, growing to 63 locations across 18 states since its founding in 2013.

The pace of expansion has accelerated dramatically in recent years. The privately owned practice has opened more than 20 new clinics in the past 24 months alone, with plans to reach 100 or more locations in the coming years.

A Founder’s Vision

Dr. Armin Oskouei founded Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians after identifying what he saw as a gap in the market for patient-centered spine care. A physician double board certified in Interventional Spine and Anesthesiology, Dr. Oskouei wanted to create a practice that prioritized personalized attention alongside advanced treatment options.

“My goal was to create a practice that combined personalized attention, advanced minimally invasive treatments, and faster recovery for patients with spine and sports injuries,” Dr. Oskouei explained.

That vision has resonated with both patients and physicians. The organization now employs over 100 spine and orthopedic specialists and handles more than 60,000 patient visits annually.

The Quality Equation

Central to Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians’ model is a deliberate focus on quality over quantity. The practice maintains lower patient-to-provider ratios, scheduling fewer patients per day to allow physicians more time with each individual.

“Our lower patient-to-provider ratio sets us apart from other orthopedic practices, allowing for a more thorough evaluation,” said Dr. Oskouei. “Typical hospital orthopedic groups focus on quantity instead of quality. We take the opposite approach.”

This scheduling philosophy allows doctors to spend more time taking medical histories, performing exams, and understanding each patient’s goals and lifestyle. The result is customized treatment plans tailored to individual circumstances.

“OSSP emphasizes seeing each patient as an individual rather than a number,” Dr. Oskouei noted. “Our primary focus and goals are to get patients back to their quality of life prior to any type of injury.”

This approach has contributed to consistently high patient satisfaction ratings across the organization’s locations.

Integrated Capabilities

Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians operates as a fully integrated musculoskeletal care provider. The organization offers interventional spine treatments such as targeted injections, orthopedic spine surgeries utilizing minimally invasive techniques, extremity procedures for joint and ligament injuries, and sports medicine services.

With more than 50 MRI machines across its network, the practice can diagnose conditions quickly and coordinate care from imaging through surgery and recovery, all within a single organization.

“We bring together orthopedic surgeons, spine specialists, rehabilitation professionals, and advanced diagnostic services within an integrated care model,” Dr. Oskouei explained. “This allows us to manage everything from imaging and evaluation to surgery, therapy, and recovery.”

Sports Medicine Expertise

The organization has established strong credibility in sports medicine. Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians has affiliations with professional sports teams and regularly treats both active and retired professional athletes.

“OSSP has had affiliations with professional sports teams and serves athletes of all ages,” Dr. Oskouei noted. “We still treat active and retired professional athletes on a regular basis from these affiliations and reputation in the sports medicine space.”

Beyond professional athletics, the practice serves a diverse patient population including recreational athletes, workers’ compensation cases, and general orthopedic patients.

Commitment to Innovation

The organization prioritizes staying current with advances in orthopedic medicine. Leadership emphasizes that OSSP works continuously to remain on the cutting edge of spine and orthopedic procedures.

“OSSP works very hard to remain on the cutting edge of spine and orthopedic procedures,” Dr. Oskouei stated. “We are constantly exploring new options to provide our patients with the best outcomes possible.”

What’s Next

With 63 locations established, Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians continues to pursue growth. The organization’s goal of 100 or more locations reflects confidence in its patient-centered model.

“Every new location we open is an opportunity to bring patient-centered care to a community that needs it,” Dr. Oskouei stated.
