What if one of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties in the United States organized by a church? What might have seemed impossible to some is exactly what has been happening at Lagoinha Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida, for the past three years. Last year, the Brazilian church’s New Year’s Eve event, which lasts for two days and is now part of the city’s annual calendar, brought together more than 10,000 people, with expectations of nearly 15,000 participants this year. On social media, the expected reach exceeds 40 million people.

The festivities kick off early on December 31st and continue until January 1st. In total, 15 attractions will grace the stage at the Addition Arena, located at the University of Central Florida. Among Brazilian preachers and singers, alongside André Valadão, there will also be Deive Leonardo, Fernandinho, Ana Paula Valadão, André Fernandes, Jefferson and Suellen, Marcelo Markes, Victor Hugo, Rony Oliveira, and Morada. While last year’s Orlando New Year’s Eve event surprised attendees by featuring Taya Gaukrodger, a member of the internationally recognized Hillsong band, this year’s international presence includes Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, John Bevere, and Tiffany Hudson—four of the most significant evangelical figures in the world.

In addition to the speakers and singers, attention is drawn to the personalities who have chosen Lagoinha Orlando’s celebration. Last year, names like Kaká, Alexandre Pato, the Abravanel family, Rivaldo, Paulo Vieira, Roger Guedes, Vitor Belfort, and Flávio Augusto were among those present. And what can one expect from the Orlando New Year’s Eve 2024? A lot of prayer, worship, and transformative words. “It’s not just an event. At Virada Orlando, it’s fertile ground for the outpouring of God. We pray throughout the year for it, so that people present can be touched by God and receive clear directions from Him for the upcoming year. It’s time to be thankful for the past year and place the upcoming year in Jesus’ hands! It’s impactful to see so many Brazilians, who could be alone on this date, gathered in such a communal celebration,” says Pastor André Valadão.

The Virada Orlando is also an event with extreme evangelistic potential. In the previous year alone, over 1,000 people surrendered their lives to Jesus.
