Tania Rubis, The Rubis Show’s charismatic host and producer, has made a significant mark in the media world. With numerous accolades to her name, Tania is a force to be reckoned with. From covering New York Fashion Week (NYFW) to interviewing high-profile figures like Maye Musk, Tania has established herself as a trusted voice in the entertainment industry. She shares her journey, insights, and aspirations in this candid interview.
Can you share a defining moment in your career that truly shaped your path?
Tania: My first coverage of NYFW was a game-changer. It wasn’t just about following fashion trends anymore—it was about being part of a challenging and exhilarating industry. Behind every button sewn onto a garment is the collective effort of a dedicated team, starting from a single idea. That realization gave me a newfound respect for the fashion world. It’s a business that demands more than meets the eye.
How do you prepare for interviews with celebrities?
Tania: I stay informed about my guests’ latest projects and achievements. People love to talk about their current work—their passion and focus. Ignoring this and asking about their older projects can sometimes feel dismissive to them. I believe everyone, especially creatives, deserves recognition for their present endeavors. It’s about showing them that their hard work is seen and appreciated.
What do you enjoy most about working on the red carpet?
Tania: The red carpet has a unique energy—it’s always brimming with excitement and anticipation. No one arrives in a bad mood or with sad news; it’s all about celebration. My goal is to translate that energy to my audience. The spontaneity of red-carpet interviews is what makes them unique. There are no pre-written questions or rehearsed answers, so everything feels raw and authentic. Plus, when creative minds improvise, the results are often magical.
Psychologically, humans mirror the emotions of others, so creating a festive atmosphere in my show directly uplifts my audience’s mood. That’s the real magic of broadcasting.
Can you tell us about your interview with Maye Musk? What stood out to you?
Tania: For me, it’s often not just about what someone says, but how they present themselves—their tone, expressions, and overall demeanor. Maye Musk was delightful—warm, charming, and incredibly down-to-earth. I brought up her son Elon Musk’s playful challenge to Mark Zuckerberg for a fight during our conversation. I jokingly asked her what odds she’d give Elon to win. Her reaction showed she appreciated the humor, and it made for a memorable moment.
What are your plans for your career?
Tania: My current focus is on elevating The Rubis Show. As its host and producer, I aim to inspire audiences with visually stunning and emotionally engaging stories. The show blends fashion with personal narratives, offering a behind-the-scenes look at exclusive events in New York and beyond. My mission is to motivate and captivate through storytelling.
Do you think childhood dreams influence your adult life?
Tania: Absolutely. Childhood dreams set the foundation for who we become. For me, they provided direction, and I still chase those dreams—just on a more sophisticated, adult level now.
What’s the most valuable advice you’ve received from your family or mentors?
Tania: My grandmother, who held a leadership position at her school, always told me, “Be the first.” She believed that only being number one ensures remembrance. That advice shaped my drive and determination, pushing me to excel in everything I do.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for success in your profession?
Tania: I once asked Fern Mallis, the founder of NYFW, this same question. I expected her to mention qualities like determination and confidence, but her answer surprised me: “To be nice.” Looking back, I realize how true that is. Being kind creates a positive reputation and attracts people. Conversely, being overly forceful or aggressive can push people away. In today’s world, authenticity and pleasantness are invaluable.
Do you have any rituals before going live on The Rubis Show?
Tania: I always say the outcome I want to achieve with the day’s filming. It’s a small but powerful way to set my intention and focus.
Tania Rubis’s journey from covering fashion shows to becoming a recognized media personality is a testament to her hard work, passion, and unwavering positivity. As she continues to inspire audiences through The Rubis Show, Tanya reminds us of the importance of staying grounded, embracing our dreams, and being kind above all.
