Henry Cavill Explores New DC Roles after Saying Goodbye to Superman

It’s a bird… it’s a plane… no, it’s… not Superman anymore? As Henry Cavill recently shared, he decided to hang up his cape on his iconic role of Superman in the DC Extended Universe. His departure from the role of Superman came as a shock to many fans, who appreciated his portrayal of the iconic character in films like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League.

Nevertheless, Cavill has expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to don the cape and serve as an inspiration for millions of fans. However, this decision does not mean the end of Cavill’s involvement in the DC Universe. Rather, it presents an opportunity for him to explore new roles and expand his range as an actor. So, what’s next for Henry Cavill and the DC Universe?

James Gunn Clarifies Henry Cavill Rumors and Talks about New DC Role

In recent conversations on Twitter, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has cleared the air about rumors surrounding Henry Cavill’s involvement in the upcoming animated HBO Max series, Creature Commandos. Gunn confirmed that Cavill is not being considered for the role of Frankenstein, and he also shed some light on their discussions about finding a new DC role for the actor.

The rumors began swirling after it was announced that Cavill would no longer be playing Superman. Fans speculated that Gunn was looking at Cavill to voice the iconic Frankenstein character in the Creature Commandos series. However, Gunn put these rumors to rest, stating, “Completely false. We have our Frankenstein. our first choice, and it’s not Henry. Was never discussed with him.”

While Cavill won’t be joining the Creature Commandos project, that doesn’t mean he’s done with the DC universe. Gunn has been very open about the fact that he and Cavill have been discussing potential new roles for the actor within the DC world. Although no specific details were shared, it’s clear that both parties are enthusiastic about working together in the future.

As Gunn said, “It’s on various news sites & I was asked about it. You might consider that this bile you think comes off in my post has more to do with your framing than what I’m actually saying. I’ve said in the past we’ve discussed other roles with Henry—just Frankenstein is not one of them.”

As Cavill moves on from the role of Superman, it’s exciting to think about what other DC characters he could bring to life on screen. The actor has proven his versatility with roles in films like The Witcher and Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and his potential involvement in future DC projects is an enticing prospect for fans of the cinematic universe.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to the Creature Commandos animated series on HBO Max, with or without Cavill’s involvement. With James Gunn at the helm, the show is certain to be a thrilling and unique addition to the ever-expanding DC universe.
