Hydration is a complex process that goes far beyond simply drinking enough water. Spacing out your hydration can impact how you hydrate your body; it can stop cramps you get during exercise, keep your heart rate steadier, and maintain a sense of calm. Your environment factors into hydration, as well as your level of activity. Some technologies have been developed to work with you in hydration, but Ghydion Co. is at the top of the ladder for its thorough consideration of customer needs.
Donovan Stewart is the founder of Ghydion. He developed a sense of healthy habits during his time in the Air Force, where he navigated many different tasks across the world; these tasks encouraged his own discipline. Donovan, to this day, knows that it takes a significant amount of work to achieve real healthy habits, and he spent time after serving designing a way to integrate technology into the process of developing these habits. His initial idea revolved around custom water bottles, which he presented to his partners, fellow service members Johnathan Nokes and Fernando Villa, with great interest. The market already had some smart water bottles, but he wanted to effectively gamify hydration better than any bottle on the market. Gamification has the potential to adjust behavioral patterns, so he put his focus on using this concept to enhance the hydration experience, particularly within the health and fitness industries.
Rather than settle for inadequate tools, Donovan’s vision was to use smart water bottles that would make hydration engaging, habitual, and rewarding with modern technology. The Ghydion Gallon boasts features like a water intake calculator, goal-setting options and progress tracking with a paired app, internal and external charging on the stainless steel frame, and a secure duel lid. The gallon transcends the work of a bottle and acts as a tool for your hydration.
The inspiration for the Ghydion Gallon came from Donovan’s personal experience in Qatar, where he suffered from heat exhaustion despite his best efforts to stay hydrated. The experience made him realize the gap between wanting to stay hydrated and actually achieving that goal is wider than most people realize. His veteran-owned company aims to lead the closing of this gap. One of the main challenges they’ve faced so far has been combatting the widespread misinformation and myths surrounding hydration. These misconceptions often made it difficult for people to adopt evidence-based hydration practices. Ghydion Co. keeps a strong emphasis on education and transparency to fight health misinformation. They committed to providing users with accurate, science-backed information about hydration. It took years of research and development to perfect the water intake calculator, which eventually led to their first patent—a significant milestone that set the company apart from competitors. As customer feedback rolled in, Donovan and his team took note, working to develop smaller models and new designs, such as hiking-specific bottles or a dry shutter pod for supplements, to meet the varying needs of their diverse customer base.
Beyond gamifying hydration, Ghydion Co. is a trailblazer in the smart water bottle market for its constant response to customer feedback. Small inquiries about spilling have been answered with the vacuum seal dual lid and durable plastic coating, and supplemental adjustments—like compatible and easy-to-clean flavor infusions, continue to roll in. Donovan’s ultimate goal is clear. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated, and he wants to help curb the health hazards that come from not drinking enough water. He will continue to work with his family and veteran partners until the product eclipses its competition and people across the country are gamifying their hydration. More fitness professionals and healthcare providers will likely endorse their products for their design and how much they help these adjacent industries. On top of his product, Donovan will also continue to fight against dehydration and water deprivation around the world. 10% of every gallon sold goes to Charity: Water, a nonprofit that delivers water around the world where it’s needed. If you want to gamify your hydration to improve your organ function, brain and metabolic health, and so much more physically, check out the progress Donovan is making as he finishes the development of this impressive project and order a Ghydion Gallon.
