‘The Waltons’ Homecoming’ Brings Thanksgiving Celebration to Television

Amid Thanksgiving celebrations, a stellar cast and team of producers and creators look to bring a whole celebration to viewers around the nation via a television number called The Waltons’ Homecoming, which aired on major TV network, The CW, on November 28, 2021 and restream on December 11. 

Acting as the sole presenting sponsor for the all-time American classic is kathy ireland® Worldwide, a branding and media company founded by former model, Kathy Ireland, who is currently one of the biggest influencers in media and entertainment. The Waltons’ Homecoming is a revamp of the classic holiday season favorite, which follows the story of John Boy and his family as they prepare for John Senior’s homecoming amid trials and tribulations that change the course of their lives forever. The TV special stars several screen favorites, such as Bellamy Young, Ben Lawson, Logan Shroyer. The original actor who played John Boy, Richard Thomas, also plays a part in the production as the narrator. 

In speaking about the classic story and its impact on family life, presenter Kathy Ireland shares the core of this presentation. “The American classic speaks on the purest values—faith, family, love, inclusivity,” Kathy shares. “There is so much programming in the world today that fails to encourage hope. After a challenging year, The Waltons’ Homecoming is our gift to America.” The film also features iconic executive producer Sam Haskell, who helped bring the vision of “The Waltons’ Homecoming” to life and whom Kathy was more than excited to welcome to the team. “When we began dreaming of what gift we could give to virtually every American family this year, this film became our powerful choice,” adds Kathy Ireland.

Kathy currently serves as the Chairperson, CEO, Chief Designer of kathy ireland® Worldwide. Following a successful career in modeling, she retired and moved towards entrepreneurship. Despite all the challenges, she has grown her company to stellar success and currently reaps the rewards of all her labor, becoming one of the wealthiest former models worldwide.

The film’s music also looks to take people through an emotional rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. Marilyn Coo and Billy Davis Jr., two musical powerhouses and Grammy Award winners, played a part in creating the beautiful soundtrack of the film. Their rendition of “Silent Night” brings color and life to the film. Music lovers will also be happy to know that the song came out on Monday, November 29, as part of a WaterTower Music release.

By sponsoring The Waltons’ Homecoming’s public airing, Kathy and the team hope to spread joy to the world amid these trying times. The project will also work together with The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation to help children battling cancer, a mission that’s close to Kathy Ireland’s heart. 

2021 has been a tremendously successful year for Kathy Ireland, as she received the Business International Religious Freedom Champion Award from the IRD, an Icon Award from Internal Home Furnishings Association, and became the youngest woman ever to get elected to the Licensing International Hall of Fame.
